Congratulations to Peachy-featured textile artist Wesley Mancini, an internationally renowned textile fabric designer and leader in his industry. Mancini, who was spotlighted in our April May 2014 issue, has been named the inaugural recipient of the International Textile Market Association (ITMA) Lifetime Achievement Award.
“The very fibers of Wesley Mancini’s being are a beautiful man with exquisite taste and immeasurable talent,” said Catherine Morsell, ITMA executive director. “His sharing of wisdom and respect of tradition make him a rare gift to this industry and its future.”
Art Reilly, ITMA president, said: “With this award, we were looking to find – for the first recipient particularly – a unifying situation and honoree, and we found that person. Wesley Mancini has spent so much time with the ITMA Educational Foundation; he’s always had a passion for the rising stars, and neophytes who may become stars. Add to that his overall industry background and reputation and working with so many top firms over the years, he was the obvious choice.”
For Mancini, who has collected many awards during his distinguished career, this one is special. “It is indescribable to explain what I feel,” Mancini said. “I am awestruck that I was chosen out of an entire industry to be the recipient of this prestigious award. Being respected my peers and mills, both domestic and foreign, short-circuits my brain when I think about it. I do what I do because I am passionate about textiles and pattern. Lucky me to have been able to have a career doing what I love.”
