servingsIngredients
- For the cake layer
1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
16 ounce can chocolate syrup
4 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
- For the mint layer
2 cups 10x powdered sugar
3 tablespoons creme de menthe, or mint extract to taste
1/2 cup butter
- For the ganache
6 ounces chocolate chips
6 tablespoons butter, softened
Directions
- Mix all of the cake ingredients together. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Don’t overbake! Cool completely in pan.
- Mix mint layer ingredients together. Spread evenly over cold cake.
- Combine ganache ingredients and melt together. I usually do this in the microwave in 25 second increments until melted. Don’t overcook. Cool well and spread over mint layer.
- Chill 5 to 10 minutes. Cut into squares. Enjoy!
Notes
- The key to distinct layers is cooling thoroughly between steps. Don’t rush!
- Freezes well.
