Summer is here and with it bountiful blooms and farmers’ markets overflowing with produce. The temperature has heated up quickly, but I still love the lazy days of summer when the kids sleep in and the pace slows down.
We couldn’t resist using the fabulous hydrangeas from our entertaining photo shoot. When the blooms open up, you know it is summer in the South. Our feature city is the Ponte Vedra/Jacksonville area. Situated on the Atlantic coast of Florida, Ponte Vedra with its moss-filled trees and clipped hedges is the epitome of Southern charm. It reminds me of all the summers at the beach I spent with my family, cousins and of course Peachy. We searched for sea shells, made sandcastles, played in the waves and hunted for crabs at night. Days were long and glorious!
Gardens
I am thrilled to feature the beautiful garden designed by Judy Drake and Gerry Crouch of Sunscapes. The landscaping boasts a refined planting palette with clipped hedges but also adds a touch of wildness with its blooming perennials. The purple agapanthus is my all-time favorite.
Interiors
We are also excited to spotlight a bright and cheery home designed by Amanda Webster. The Craftsman-style home is a true “grandkid getaway” for the owners and their grandchildren, with several whimsical and child-friendly features including a “cupcake loft.”
Food + Entertaining
The recipes gathered by our entertaining editor Tamberlyn Dobrowski are, as always, delicious. I love the fresh ingredients from the farmers’ market that are perfect for a summer supper with family or friends.
I am over the moon that September will be Peachy’s fifth anniversary. I can’t believe that we have published 24 issues in five years. What an amazing journey it has been, and we absolutely could not have done it without all of our readers! We have a special anniversary issue coming out in September that will take a look back at all of our favorite features.
I hope you have a wonderful summer filled with lots of family and friends. Take time to relax with your toes in the white sand as the waves roll in, and of course to smell the roses.
Cheers!
