The Summer 2023 Issue features the amazing Caribbean destination, Turks and Caicos. Join us as we tour two beautifully-designed homes, explore some of the best places to eat, stay, shop and play on the islands, plus so much more. Enjoy!
Turks and Caicos is my favorite Caribbean destination! There is a direct flight from Charlotte that only takes a few hours, meaning you can be through customs and on the beach by the early afternoon. We have stayed at resorts and condos, and for my 40th birthday we rented a house for our extended family. With turquoise waters and pink sands like no other, we have had a ball renting sailboats and exploring the island. One year we sailed my mom to lunch on a Hobie Cat, and she thought it was the adventure of her life. Check out our Insiders’ Guide for special places to eat, stay, shop and play.
Since Turks and Caicos has the third-largest barrier reef in the world, the waters of Grace Bay are calm and inviting. The reef also provides the perfect breeding ground for tropical fish, sea turtles, plant life and much more. The gardens and flowers in T and C are abundant. I’ve never seen so many kinds of palm trees and colors of bougainvillea. It grows like a weed and blooms profusely year-round. I could go on for days about T and C—you will have to take a trip and see this beautiful destination for yourself!
Food + Entertaining
Tam, our wonderful entertaining editor, pulled together a lovely multi-generational luncheon. Don’t miss the gorgeous flowers, table decorations and fabulous recipes. The summery roasted shrimp and orzo will please any group, and the strawberry cake is absolutely delicious.
Interiors
Dive into two breathtaking homes—Villa Rehab, which sits on the sparkling Leeward Canals, and Sol Y Luna, a contemporary home with a “periscope” design. Both homes take advantage of T and C’s breezy winds, natural materials and stunning water views.
Summer Beauty
Our beauty editor Lesley compiled her favorite picks for the summer, focusing on products that multi-task, resulting in a lighter look and lighter toiletry bag. I’m not an expert in makeup, but the Westman Atelier stick is one of my favorites. It’s so easy to use for highlighting—there is almost no chance for user error with it or the blush stick.
Our 10th Anniversary
We have had an amazing 10th anniversary year so far and are excited about some fun events in the fall. I hope you all are enjoying your summer and getting some rest and relaxation.
Cheers!
