The Summer 2016 issue features the beautiful and exciting city of Los Angeles. LA has some of the best weather in the country with year-round outdoor dining and gorgeous gardens.
Summer is here in all her glory…bountiful flowers and fresh produce. This season always reminds me of weeks at the beach with Peachy serving gazpacho and taking us to the best places to hunt for seashells. We were so carefree—building sandcastles and hunting for crabs. We didn’t have cell phones, bedtimes, or alarm clocks, but we took naps every day. Ahh…the lazy days of summer.
We are thrilled to feature the beautiful and exciting city of Los Angeles. LA has some of the best weather in the country with year-round outdoor dining and gorgeous gardens. Agapanthus, with its show-stopping purple blooms, is one of my favorite flowers and very difficult to grow in the Southeast, but it flourishes in California. It’s even planted along roadsides and at gas stations.
LA is also home to one of my favorite iconic buildings—the Walt Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank Gehry. It’s a striking building clad in curving stainless steel panels that resemble silver sails. Completed in 1999, the landmark structure is home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Another one of my favorite places to visit is The J. Paul Getty Museum, described as a “unique destination [that] incorporates the modern design of architect Richard Meier, with beautiful gardens, open spaces, and spectacular views of Los Angeles.” Don’t miss walking down to the steel trees (or arbors as they are referred to) that are covered in bougainvillea.
