Santa Fe holds a special place in my heart—Peachy took us on girls’ trips there where we shopped, ate delicious food and hiked. The whole family celebrated Peachy and Rogie’s fiftieth wedding anniversary at Santacafé with a fabulous soiree.
Being fairly close to Texas, Santa Fe was always on the top of the list for family trips. We loved visiting the market in the square where you could find local artists selling woven baskets, turquoise squash blossom necklaces, silver concho belts, handmade linens and kachina dolls. Peachy loved statement jewelry, and her large turquoise ring from Santa Fe was one of her signature pieces.
A Southwestern gem, Santa Fe’s rich culture has influenced architecture, cuisine, and the arts. As one of the largest arts centers in the country, Santa Fe boasts over 200 galleries, 10 museums and a bustling arts district. When the Spaniards arrived in the 16th century, they discovered the Pueblo Indians living in communities built with adobe and pine logs. Later these techniques translated into Pueblo-style architecture, which is characterized by round walls, corner fireplaces, vigas (log rafters), flat roofs and covered porches.
Food + Entertaining
We have a wonderful issue for you. The entertaining feature by Tamberlyn Dobrowski is one of my favorites. She shares some of her favorite appetizers for your spring parties. The shoot is perfectly set in Jocelyn Rose’s lovely home with melon undertones and beautiful art. The tuna tartare is to die for.
Beauty, Interiors + Gardens
Don’t miss our Beauty Report, Concealer 101. Beauty editor Lesley Downey shares her tips and tricks on selecting and using the perfect concealer. In our Interiors section, we feature a unique home in Santa Fe’s Eastside that combines Pueblo Revival style with a modern twist. And our Gardens feature spotlights an innovative and breathtaking landscape design project, the Woven Plains property.
I am so ready for the roses to start blooming and the trees to leaf out.
Cheers to a beautiful spring!
