What Inspires Artist Kim Schuessler?

It’s no secret…we are huge Kim Schuessler fans at Peachy. So we were very keen to find out what inspires one of the most popular figurative painters in the Southeast.

Find out more about what keeps Kim’s creativity flowing below. And if you’re in the Charlotte area this week, don’t miss the Pop-Up Trunk Show featuring her amazing hand-painted skirt collection at Shain Gallery on Thursday, October 11.

What inspires me? I love getting information fast so I thought A LIST would be the perfect way to share what moves me to create my paintings and what connects me to my paint brush and canvas daily. I pursue my passion with intention and energy. This pursuit involves commitment, perseverance, and hard work but the joys of creating art make it all worthwhile. My inspiration comes from the list below:

People that smile. 😊

Relationships based on commitment and trust.

I ❤️Podcasts on entrepreneurs: How I Built This with Guy Raz is a favorite and I listen to each one with enthusiasm while I paint.

Life learners: the older the better!….Go Iris Apfel!

Learning about how people build successful businesses…I adore Sara Blakely and Spanx.

The sunshine and bright blue skies of Puerto Rico.

People with style…Linda Fargo rocks!

Bergdorf’s…spread my ashes there.

NYC!

I ❤️ movement…from yoga to the hustle of city sidewalks.

Exercise creates energy…I ❤️my Peloton bike, SoulCycle, Flywheel.

Music while I paint…from Celene Dion’s French album to 80’s music to Khalid.

Travel…different cultures. I ❤️ Tokyo, Hong Kong, and India.

Life itself…it is a gift!

And of course, my biggest inspiration is my precious family! They bring life and love into my world, and I try to transfer this “goodness” onto my canvas!

Kim Schuessler

Kim Schuessler is one of the most popular figurative painters in the southeast. She recently moved from Hong Kong and now lives between Puerto Rico and Atlanta. Her southern roots, extensive travel, and love of fashion influence her paintings. Sourcing paper from each destination she visits, she employs color, texture, and pattern to create collages and paintings that connect the viewer to everyday experiences. Her complex collages evoke a sense of human emotion that speak of joy and love.
