The fourth annual Stiletto Sprint, presented by the Bissell Companies, benefits the Carolinas Ovarian Cancer Fund at the Levine Cancer Institute (LCI). This event was established in 2011 by the ovarian cancer support group at LCI who call themselves the Teal Magnolias.
This year in the United States, over 22,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and nearly 70% of them will be diagnosed at an advanced stage. These women will face the fight of their lives!
In order to support their fight locally, hundreds of women (and men!) will put on their heels and sprint! ALL the net proceeds remain local supporting cutting edge research involving early detection, patient support programs, and community awareness initiatives.
The event will feature competitive heats where sprinters will compete in a 70 yard dash. To qualify for a top finisher award, runners have to wear a slim, tapered heel with a minimum of 2.5 inches. There will also be non-competitive heats for those who prefer to wear flats or tennis shoes. For children, a ruby red slipper competition will take place. And don’t miss out on the fabulous auction, fashion show, mini massages, and a special appearance by the Bissell Companies’ own Smoky Bissell!
