Modern Oasis with House of Nomad’s Berkeley Minkhorst & Kelley Lentini

PHOTOGRAPHY BY Laura Sumrak

Designed for a young family with ties to New York, this whole home design is just what the clients had in mind—modern but warm and functional for their daily life with two young children. Located in the Quail Hollow neighborhood of Charlotte, every detail of this stunning new build was given attention. From layout and custom paint plan to favorite design standouts such as the kitchen and dining area, the design team worked meticulously to ensure that the clients were happy with both a beautiful and practical home.

While the clients’ dream was white walls for their entire home, the design team wanted to make sure it didn’t come off as stark. The solution? The team created a custom white paint at Benjamin Moore, which took adding a few drops of black to make the perfect fresh white. The blue paint used on the built-ins in the dining area, Benjamin Moore Hale Navy in high gloss, creates a rich contrast against the white walls. Paired with the walnut countertops that tie to the kitchen island, the two spaces speak to one another. The shelves were styled with larger architectural pieces creating a clean but bold look.

The dark-colored dining table and chairs in this modern oasis were selected to create a kid-friendly space, but the sleek chair style and unique table base make it sophisticated and interesting. The lighting selections mesh with the modern style of the home, while the sconces add depth and perfectly complement the flanking built-ins.
