There’s something about summer in North Carolina that makes it feel more vibrant and meaningful—perhaps it’s the scent of magnolias, the laughter echoing from backyard gatherings or the way neighbors show up for each other when it matters most. As we reflect on the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, I’m filled with pride in how our state has responded. While the road to full recovery is ongoing, the resilience and generosity of our communities shine brighter than ever.
This issue celebrates some of summer’s best moments—those shared with family, friends and a touch of seasonal style. Whether you’re entertaining outdoors, pampering sun-kissed skin or refreshing a beloved space, we’ve curated ideas to inspire.
Entertaining
First, take your gathering to the next level with a poolside lunch menu that’s as inviting as the setting. Think chilled cucumber soup, lemony chicken and a farro salad bursting with Mediterranean flavors—finished off with a key lime pie that’s pure sunshine on a plate.
Gardens
For a dose of outdoor design inspiration, we take you inside a stunning Charlotte garden reimagined by Hugh Crump of Greenline Design. His client’s vision—a blend of Carolinas charm and Palm Beach flair—resulted in a serene, seamless space that invites year-round enjoyment. From custom seating to treasured statuary and low-glow lighting, every element feels intentional and deeply personal.
Style + Beauty
Get ready to elevate your beauty routine with multi-tasking summer essentials. These warm-weather heroes boost confidence while defending your skin against long, sunny days. And check out our summer style picks for all your upcoming events.
Interiors
And finally, step into a Chapel Hill condo that doubles as a home base for game-day weekends and Tar Heel pride. Designer Janie Molster transformed this sunny perch into a bold, functional escape that’s equal parts chic hotel and family hub.
Wherever summer takes you, may it be filled with rest, connection and joy.
Cheers!
