Beauty Staycation

WRITTEN BY Lesley Holland Downey

Summer 2020 is looking different than we all thought it would be, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t look (and smell) like you went somewhere fabulous. Here are a few of my favorite products that accomplish my self-care goals and make me feel put together even if my destinations aren’t very far from home.

Biologique Recherche Lotion P50
Cult status skincare’s famous skin treatment. Staying away from facials means you need a primo at-home routine. BR is the crème de la crème!

Obagi Retivance Skin Rejuvenating Complex
This anti-aging product contains the gentle cousin of Retin-A called retinyldehyde. It’s easy on the skin and well-tolerated even in the summer months.

StackedSkincare Ice Roller
Treat puffiness, redness, and inflammation with this soothing cryotherapy device.

Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Bronze Coconut Perfect Tan in 104 Tan-Tastic!
This mega-sized product adds believable warmth to your face and body—pop a little in the hollows of your cheeks, the forehead, and, most importantly, under the jawline and neck which is often lighter than the rest of the body.

Chanel Les Eaux de Chanel Paris-Biarritz Eau de Toilette
Switch out your fragrance for summer to something new, like this one with notes of mandarin and lily.

Terre Mere Gold Youth Wand
Self-care reaches the next level when you massage in your favorite serum or face cream with this beauty tool.

YSL Vinyl Cream Lip Stain
Finally, a glossy lip product with staying power. You’ll feel so fancy putting on a swipe of one of these beautiful shades—from nudes to brights.

Supergoop Mattescreen Sunscreen SPF40 and Australian Gold Botanical Sunscreen Tinted Face Lotion SPF50
If your skin is sensitive, look for a mineral sunscreen formula that provides a physical barrier between you and harmful rays. Both of these formulas dry down a bit and feel comfortable on the skin.

Biossance Squalane + Glycolic Renewal Mask
Give yourself a quick but effective at-home facial with this hydrating exfoliator.

Eric Javits Hampton Straw Sun Hat
Summer sunshine calls for a fabulous hat— this one can be worn pool or beachside but also out and about for added protection.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream
Smell like you just got back from a tropical island with this super-emollient, deliciously fragranced body cream.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask
Add hydration overnight with a summery smelling, easily-absorbed formula. Masking has become part of my routine, and this one is perfect for warmer weather.

Kassatex Glendale Fouta Beach Towel
This breezy cotton towel can double as a sarong.

Essie Expressie Polish
My go-to brand has finally come out with a quick-dry formula just in time for me to relearn how to polish my own nails. Check out these colors: Crop Top and Roll, Buns Up, Air Dry, and Lose The Snooze.
