Beauty Report: Seasonal Standouts

WRITTEN BY Lesley Holland Downey

Fall beauty this year is about tapping into the newest products that simplify your routine and are more effective at the same time. In the sea of endless choices out there, these are my standouts for fall.

Wearing sunscreen every day means sometimes your face wash can’t do the job. Enter the double cleanse — prep your dry skin with a creamy balm or oil cleanser to melt makeup and sunscreen — then follow with your face wash, leaving your skin super clean and nourished. Try Clé de Peau Beauté Cleansing Oil or Eve Lom Cleanser Balm.

Powerhouse skincare for your scalp? Barbara Sturm and Augustinus Bader create results-driven luxury hair treatments to integrate into your haircare routine.

End-of-summer hair fried by salt, chlorine, and sun exposure? Check out Barbara Sturm Repair Hair Mask to restore moisture, shine, and overall hair health.

Noticing thinning locks is alarming, but you aren’t alone — most women experience hair loss due to aging or hormonal changes during pregnancy. Try a leave-on scalp treatment like Augustinus Bader’s Leave-In Hair Treatment.

End-of-summer skin that needs a resurfacing? Try SkinBetter’s AlphaRet Exfoliating Peel Pads. Formulated with gentle alpha and beta hydroxy acids, these pads loosen the bonds that hold the top layer of skin together, revealing brighter, smoother skin.

Skincare and makeup become the same step in the new Vital Skincare Complexion Drops from Westman Atelier — a dewy treatment and foundation in one.

Fashion powerhouse Chanel never disappoints with their fall lineup of deep, glossy colors and neutrals for fingers and toes. Try Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour in Désir and Emotion.

I love a lip gloss, but some occasions call for a lip color that really stays put—and Rouge Dior Forever TransferProof Lipstick does.

As we age, our brows seem to do a disappearing act. Enter BaeBrow Instant Tint!, an at-home, easy to use brow tinting gel that is goof-proof and non-messy. Drop your brow tinting appointment and customize your color.

Soft, subtle Chanel Pencil Stylo Yeux in Gris/Graphite is the perfect way to wear color on the eyes, especially on the lower lash line.

After years of neutrals, it’s beyond refreshing to see some— “gasp”—navy blue eyeshadow in the Chantecaille Jaguar Eye Quartet which is chic and easy to wear with any eye color.

Fall means time to chuck your dried-out mascara and start over with a high-performing green formula like Ilia’s Limitless Lash Mascara. It has a clever two-sided wand to both deposit pigment and separate lashes.

I love burning a candle any time of the year, and this one is cozy, warm, and luxurious. Check out Maison Francis Kurkdjian Oud Satin Mood Scented Candle.
